ONEstep Program
ABOUT ONESTEP
The YAAY ME OneStep Program is a continuing initiative that empowers justice-involved individuals in Prince George’s County, Maryland through comprehensive reentry mentorship. Utilizing a restorative justice approach, the program offers traditional, group, and virtual mentoring to support individuals as they transition back into their communities. By providing personalized guidance and resource navigation, OneStep helps participants overcome barriers to successful reintegration while contributing to broader community well-being. Funding will continue to support essential personnel, training, and operational costs to sustain and expand program impact.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The program is built around a trauma-informed, culturally responsive mentorship model. Upon intake, each participant completes a comprehensive needs and risk assessment to identify housing status, employment history, behavioral health needs, and readiness for independent living. Participants are then assigned a Credible Mentor—someone with lived experience and professional training, who provides continuous one-on-one support throughout their reentry journey.
POPULATION WE SERVE
YAAYME’s OneStep Mentorship Initiative, focuses on justice-involved individuals who are reentering communities such as 20743, 20748, and 20785— areas disproportionately impacted by poverty, unemployment, and housing insecurity. This project addresses the critical need for coordinated housing and workforce services, particularly for individuals facing complex barriers including felony records and behavioral health challenges.
