PROGRAMS

YAAY ME, INC. (YMI) offers a variety of programs, workshops and support to youth, young adults, returning citizens and residents of Washington, DC throught the development of resources; including education, training, and mentorship. Programs and offers vary and often in collaboration with community leaders and partners.

YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS

CEO in Training

A development program that provides entrepreneurship training to adults and community youth.

YMI also provides occupational skills and business development services to youth affiliated with several community-based organizations.

AMIN'S ANGELS

YMI in partnership with the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) provides Amin's Angels Intensive Mentoring (AAIM). AAIM uses a holistic and therapeutic approach to building strong and personal relationships with mentees' school/education/training providers including; teachers, trainers, office staff, resource officers, probation officers, and principals/program directors.

RETURNING CITIZENS

YMI in partnership provides personal development and entrepreneurship training to Returning Citizens sponsored by the US Department of Commerce.

YMI in partnership with the DOES Division of State Initiatives (DSI) is committed to bringing specialized services and support to transitional employment program participants. These partnerships offer alternatives to incarceration, legal support, health services, financial support, entrepreneurship counseling, and much more.

CREDIBLE MENTORS

A transformative, mentoring intervention role for formerly incarcerated individuals, with a restorative justice philosophy for individuals in the community at large. The role of a mentor is to connect individuals to care, mentoring, and to provide preventative support to individuals residing in Washington D.C.

COMMUNITY RESIDENTS

CURE THE STREETS (CTS)

YMI in partnership with the National Association for the Advancement of Returning Citizens leads Cure the Streets (CTS) to provide gun violence intervention/prevention through public safety programming; working to reduce violence in Washington, DC.

 

URBAN INSTITUTE

YMI hosts the Urban Institute in partnership with Brothas Huddle to provide resources and educational services to community residents. 

NO SLIDE ZONE

YMI in partnership with No Slide Zone, is a movement that empowers communities plagued by violence and poverty to learn to govern their community and create safe living space.

PATHWAYS

YMI in partnership with the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) created and facilitates the Pathways program -to assist out-of-school and unemployed District residents ages 21-35 by combining occupational training, life skills development, and work readiness instructions to connect them back to the workforce; 250 residents served since 2019

SAFE PASSAGE / SAFE BLOCKS

YMI in partnership with Mayor Bowser's Office has partnered with school leadership around the D.C. Area. Safe Passage / Safe Blocks workers identify locations in and around school zones where additional support staff can assist with keeping students and families safe as they travel to and from school.
