ABOUT SAFE PASSAGE / SAFE BLOCKS
From 2020 through 2023, YMI partnered with Mayor Bowser's Office and school leadership around the D.C. Area. Safe Passage / Safe Blocks workers identify locations in and around school zones where additional support staff can assist with keeping students and families safe as they travel to and from school.
HOW DOES SAFE PASSAGE / SAFE BLOCKS WORK?
Safe Passage / Safe Blocks workers - trained and trusted adults - are assigned to schools and build relationships with school staff, students, families, and community members.
Safe Passage / Safe Blocks workers are stationed strategically throughout Congress Heights and NOMA.
OUR SAFE PASSAGE / SAFE BLOCKS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Young CEO was created to focus on leadership, financial management, and team-building training. During this program, along with gaining knowledge and skills, they will also receive the CEO Toolkit, which includes resources that are helpful after the completion of the training.

YMI Mentorship is a coaching program for youth and young adults. We engage in rich discussions, focusing on being your own boss and the benefits of becoming an entrepreneur along with tips on how to best navigate its challenges.
Both of these amazing programs were available in our Safe Passage / Safe Blocks Congress Heights and NOMA area schools. YMI completed our participation in the Safe Passage / Safe Blocks program in March 2023.
